Mileage tracker app for UK delivery drivers
JoltMile is a mileage tracker built for self-employed delivery and private hire drivers in the UK. It logs your business miles shift by shift, applies HMRC's 55p and 25p rates as you go, and shows what each hour paid once fuel, insurance and tax come off. It runs on iPhone and on the web, with one account for both.
What it records
- Each shift: the date, the hours, the platform and what it paid.
- Business miles and commuting miles kept apart, because only business miles are claimable.
- Odometer readings at the start and end, as the evidence behind the figure.
- Fuel, insurance and expenses, with the receipt photographed onto the record.
How the miles get in
Press Start shift when you set off and End shift when you finish. The app measures the miles between the two from your location, then stops. Only the miles and the two postcodes are kept, never the route. For a shift you log afterwards, you type the miles in from your odometer.
The HMRC rates, applied for you
Every shift's business miles are claimed at 55p until your tax year's total reaches 10,000, then at 25p. JoltMile keeps the running total across every platform, so the rate drops at the right mile without you counting. Motorcycles get 24p and bicycles 20p. The mileage guide explains what counts.
One record for every app
You enter your earnings, which is what lets one log cover Amazon Flex, Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eat, Evri, Uber and the rest, and what keeps it working the week a platform changes its app. Filter by platform to see which one actually pays best once the costs are in.
Ready for Self Assessment
Your turnover, mileage allowance, allowable expenses and taxable profit, as a CSV or PDF for you or your accountant, with the income tax and Class 4 National Insurance estimated as the year goes. JoltMile does not file anything with HMRC; you do that yourself, with the figures ready.
What it costs
Your first 10 shifts are free, then it is £7.99 a month or £69.99 a year, bought in the app. The pricing page has the detail.

Common questions
- Is JoltMile free?
- The app is free to download and the first 10 shifts are free. After that it is £7.99 a month or £69.99 a year, with everything included. The calculators are free for anyone.
- Does it track my miles automatically?
- During a shift you have started, yes: it measures the miles between Start shift and End shift. It does not track you outside a shift, and for a shift you log afterwards you enter the miles yourself.
- Will HMRC accept a JoltMile mileage log?
- HMRC does not approve apps, but it does say what a mileage record needs: the date, the miles and the business purpose. JoltMile records all three for every shift, with odometer readings, which is the record HMRC asks to see.
- Can I use it for more than one delivery app?
- Yes. Every shift is tagged with its platform, and the 10,000-mile threshold is counted across all of them, the way HMRC counts it.
- Is there an Android app?
- The iPhone app is on the App Store now, and the Android app is coming to Google Play. Get the app will take you to it on the day it is released.
