Cookie Policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
The short version: JoltMile runs without cookies, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to click through. This page explains what the app does keep on your device instead, and why it falls under the exemption that needs no permission.
Why the exemption applies
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, consent is needed before storing information on your device, or reading information already there - unless that storage is strictly necessary for the service you actually asked for. Everything JoltMile keeps on your device falls into that exemption.
We could show a banner anyway. We have not, because a consent prompt that offers no real choice trains people to click through the ones that do.
What JoltMile stores on your device
All of it is browser storage rather than cookies, all of it is first-party, and none of it leaves your device except where noted.
- Your sign-in session - a token that keeps you signed in between visits. Without it you would have to sign in on every page load.
- An offline cache of your own records - your shifts, expenses and settings, so the app works with no signal and syncs when you reconnect.
- A queue of unsent changes - anything you enter while offline, held until it can be saved.
- Small device preferences - for example when you last exported a backup, so we do not nag you about it every week.
- Nothing from the in-app assistant. Its conversations are not stored on your device, and not on our servers either. They last as long as the panel is open.
Clearing your browser storage removes all of it, and signs you out. Your account and your records on the server are unaffected.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure how quickly pages load. Neither stores anything on your device, sets any cookie, or uses a fingerprint or identifier that would let visits be joined into a profile or followed to another site. Because nothing is stored or read on your device, no consent is required - but you are entitled to know they are there, which is why they are named here and in the privacy policy.
Error reporting
If the app crashes, a report may be sent to Sentry so the fault can be fixed. The report is stripped first: no identity, no cookies, and none of the figures or postcodes you have entered. Session replay and performance tracing are switched off entirely.
Third-party cookies
We set none, and we embed no advertising or social media trackers. One exception is worth naming because it is a third party you may meet:
- YouTube - the product walkthrough is embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, which does not set tracking cookies unless you press play.
