About JoltMile
JoltMile is a tool for UK delivery and gig drivers to track what they earn, what it costs them, and what they will owe HMRC. It exists because the number the delivery apps show you is gross, and the number that matters is what is left after fuel, insurance and tax.
Who makes it
JoltMile is built and run by Issac Davies, a sole trader in the UK trading as JoltMile (business name Reeksac). Issac Davies drives for gig apps and built JoltMile to show drivers what a shift actually pays once fuel, insurance and tax come off. The guides and articles in the Knowledge Centre are written by Issac Davies.
JoltMile is independent, funded entirely by subscriptions, and not owned by an insurer, a delivery platform or an accountancy firm. Everything you put in can be exported or deleted at any time, which is how it should be whoever is running it.
We are not accountants and JoltMile is not an accountancy practice. Nothing on this site is tax advice. What JoltMile does is apply HMRC’s published rules to the figures you enter, show its working, and link to the gov.uk page behind every rule it uses.
What it does
It records your shifts, works out your mileage allowance at HMRC’s approved rates, estimates your fuel and insurance costs, tracks your allowable expenses, estimates your income tax and National Insurance, and gives you your Self Assessment figures as a CSV or PDF. There is a fuller list on the features page.
How it makes money
Subscriptions, and only subscriptions. The first 10 shifts are free, then it is £7.99 a month for full access. That single revenue line is what keeps the advice straight: every recommendation on this site is the honest answer, because a subscription is the only way JoltMile is paid.
How the content is written
Everything in the Knowledge Centre is written by Issac Davies and checked against HMRC and gov.uk guidance, with the source linked on the page and the date it was last checked shown. Rates and thresholds quoted in the content are read from the same constants the app calculates with, so a guide cannot quietly disagree with the arithmetic.
Where something is uncertain or depends on your circumstances, the page says so rather than guessing. If you find something wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
