What happens to my Uber Eats account if my car insurance lapses?
If your car insurance lapses, Uber Eats will temporarily deactivate your account until you upload a valid policy.
Last checked 17/10/2026.
If your car insurance lapses, Uber Eats will block your access to deliveries and pause your account until you upload a new, valid certificate.
How the check works
Uber runs automated document checks on all uploaded insurance certificates. When your policy hits its expiry date, the system expects an update. If nothing is uploaded, or if the dates do not match, the app flags the profile.
- You will lose access to go online immediately.
- You will get a notification in the app telling you your document is expired or rejected.
- Your earnings balance up to that point remains safe and will be paid out on the next cycle.
Getting back online
You need to buy a new policy that covers food delivery or courier work, often called hire and reward insurance. Once your insurer sends the certificate, upload it through the app profile menu. Verification usually takes a few hours, but it can sometimes take up to a full day depending on the queue.
