Is parcel delivery better paid than food delivery?
Usually steadier rather than better. Parcel rounds pay a more predictable amount per hour but cover far more miles, which costs more in fuel and wear.

Steadier rather than better, in most cases. A parcel round is a known quantity: a set number of drops, a route, and an amount you can predict within a few pounds. Food delivery swings much harder between a dead Tuesday and a busy Friday.
The catch is mileage. Parcel work covers considerably more ground per hour, which means more fuel, more wear and a bigger mileage claim. The claim helps at tax time; the fuel comes out of your pocket now.
Food work concentrates its earnings into evenings and weekends, so it fits round another job better. Parcel work is daytime and wants a bigger block of your day.
The honest answer is that it depends on your area and your vehicle, which is exactly why comparing your own logged hourly rate across both is worth more than any general claim.
