JoltMile is now a phone app

The web dashboard has closed. Shifts are logged in the app, with one tap to start and one to end, and joltmile.com keeps a small account area for exports, receipts and your account.

From today, JoltMile is a phone app. The web dashboard at joltmile.com has closed, and everything you do day to day happens in the app: get it here.

Nothing you have logged has moved or changed. Your shifts, expenses, receipts and settings are on your account, and they are all in the app the moment you sign in with the same email, Apple or Google account.

Why

Because the work happens in a car, not at a desk. The app can do what a web page never could: press Start shift as you set off and it captures the time, the miles and the nearest postcode while you drive, then End shift fills them in and asks what the shift paid. Two taps, and the shift is logged in the car park rather than from memory on a Sunday night.

What stays on the website

Log in at joltmile.com and there is a small account area for the jobs that suit a computer:

  • Exporting your Self Assessment figures and your mileage log, as CSV or PDF.
  • Your earnings, miles, allowance, expenses and estimated tax for any tax year.
  • Adding expenses with receipts that are already on your computer, dropped straight in.
  • Deadlines and reminders, backup and export, and your account settings.

The Knowledge Centre and the free calculators are unchanged, and open to everybody.

Subscriptions

New subscriptions are bought in the app, through the App Store or Google Play. If you already subscribe through the website, nothing changes: your subscription keeps renewing, gives you full access in the app, and can be managed or cancelled under Subscription in your account on joltmile.com.

What has gone

A few things only ever existed on the web dashboard and have closed with it: importing shifts or expenses from a spreadsheet, the postcode-to-postcode distance calculator, and choosing your own columns for the shift table. The app measures your miles instead of estimating them, and every export still carries every figure.
