Your privacy and how your data is protected

What JoltMile stores about you, who can reach it, what it is never used for, and how to get all of it back or delete it.

What is stored

Your shifts, expenses and receipts, your saved postcodes, your settings, and your account details. Postcodes are the start and end of your working day, not your home address - JoltMile never asks where you live.

Your location

The website never asks for it. The app uses it only if you allow it, and only for two things: offering the nearest postcode when a question asks for one, and measuring your miles between Start shift and End shift.

Tracking stops the moment the shift ends. The miles and the postcode at each end are kept with the shift, and every raw position is thrown away, so there is no record of the route you drove. Turn the postcode offer off under Settings, Preferences in the app, or refuse the location permission and type everything instead.

Who can reach it

You. Every row of your data is tied to your account and the database itself enforces that, not just the app. One user cannot read another user's records even if something in the app were to go wrong, because the rule lives a layer below the app.

Payments are handled by the App Store or Google Play, so JoltMile never sees or stores your card details.

What it is never used for

  • Your driving data is not sold, and it is not shared with the platforms you drive for.
  • There is no advertising in JoltMile, so there is nothing to profile you for.
  • Nothing is sent to HMRC. JoltMile does not file anything on your behalf.

Getting it back

A full JSON backup includes your receipts, not just a list of them. There is a CSV export as well, for a spreadsheet or an accountant. Both are in Settings, Data, and neither needs anybody's permission - see your data and backups.

Deleting it

Account deletion in Settings, Account removes everything: shifts, expenses, receipts, postcodes, settings, profile. It is immediate and it is not reversible.

Cookies

JoltMile stores what it needs to keep you signed in and to work offline, and nothing else. There is no tracking, which is why there is no consent banner to click through. The cookie policy is the full version.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. The first and third are buttons in the app. For anything else, email support@joltmile.com. The privacy policy is the formal statement.
