Subcontractor (DPD)
Learn what being a DPD subcontractor means for your parcel delivery work and how your pay works.

When you deliver parcels for DPD as an owner driver, you usually do not sign a contract with the big national company. Instead, you sign with a local franchisee or depot business that holds the rights to run routes in your area.
This means your day-to-day boss, your route manager, and the person who pays your weekly invoice is the franchise owner. Rules on uniform, van standards, and start times can vary a bit between different depots because each franchise runs slightly differently.
Even though your pay comes from the franchisee, you still represent DPD to customers on the doorstep. Check your specific agreement to see who handles your insurance and van hire if you do not own your vehicle outright.
