What happens to my delivery insurance if I get points on my licence?
Getting penalty points on your driving licence will usually increase your hire and reward insurance premiums and must be declared to your insurer.

Getting penalty points on your licence will push up the cost of your hire and reward insurance and can sometimes invalidate your policy if you fail to tell your insurer right away.
What you need to do when you get points
- Check your policy documents to see how your insurer wants to be told about new endorsements.
- Contact your broker or insurance company as soon as the points are added to your licence.
- Expect a quote adjustment or an admin fee for updating your details mid-term.
Insurers view delivery drivers as high mileage road users. Adding penalty points for speeding or other motoring offences suggests a higher risk of future claims. Your provider will recalculate your premium based on the new risk profile.
If you accumulate too many points, specialist hire and reward providers may still offer cover, but your choices will shrink and prices will rise significantly.

What is hire and reward insurance?
Cover for carrying goods or passengers for payment. An ordinary social, domestic and pleasure policy does not include it, and delivering without it invalidates the policy.
