Social, domestic and pleasure (SD&P) insurance
Social, domestic and pleasure, or SD&P, is the most basic use class on a car insurance policy: private use, not including commuting or any business use.
Last checked 29/09/2026.
Amazon Flex and Deliveroo both ask for SD&P plus hire and reward or food delivery cover. The SD&P policy covers you off the app; the extra cover covers you while delivering.
What it means for your money
Delivering on SD&P alone is driving uninsured for that journey. An insurer can refuse a claim and recover what it paid a third party from you. The delivery cover is a business cost; the SD&P policy is personal, so under actual costs only the business share of any combined policy is claimable.
