Can I use Freenow without a dedicated card reader for passengers?
You do not need a separate card reader for Freenow trips because passenger payments go directly through the app.

You do not need a separate card reader for Freenow trips because passenger payments go straight through the app. Freenow handles card payments, in-app tipping and account fares digitally, so the rider pays via their smartphone when the trip ends.
Drivers taking standard app bookings will find that cash is rarely used for these fares. If you do take street hail work as a black cab driver, you might still want a separate card terminal for those specific jobs, but it is not required for the work you pick up through the Freenow app itself.
